Works great
I've used The LVW-5005 for well over 1 year transferring over 50 home videos to DVD, and now have it connected to the TV. I've had very few problems, losing about 4-5 DVDs. I did find that although they claim all-write, the +R/RW DVDs (per Lite-On recommendations) consistently work better than -R/RW DVDs. I had briefly considered buying a 2nd unit since the price is down, but based on the reviews I'm reading about newly purchased units, it sounds like they've been having QC problems.

Biggest Piece of JUNK I've Ever Owned
What a piece of complete GARBAGE this unit is. Constantly stops recording in the middle of programs and tape transfers; record part of a program, pause it and try to finish it later and the unit won't recognize the disc; constant disc failure; it's just completely unreliable. I wouldn't buy another one of these if it only cost a penny. I probably spent more money on blank DVDs that were ruined by this machine than the unit itself cost.

It actually works
I had 2 other recorders before this one. The other ones worked at first but then kept coming up with errors until they just eventually didn't burn anything at all after about 6 months of use. I've had this one for about 3 months now and not a single error so far. I am very happy with it.
