Great value...but incomplete instructions....
I purchased this as a 'refurb' and right away had trouble using SD memory cards with it. The instructions don't mention it but if you format the card NTFS (probably your computer's default setting) you'll get inconsistant operation...sometimes the Lyra reads the card, other times not. By formatting the card FAT32, It'll work fine every time. Battery life acceptable, good sound with included headphones. I use mine in the car with a Belkin FM transmitter. People who call them defective are probably experiencing the format issue.

junk, just junk
My husband bought one of these and really liked it, so I bought on for myself and my 15 year old daughter after he had his for about 5 months. His battery door broke soon after and had to be held together with a rubberband. After 2 months of use mine seems to have a short where the headphones plug in. My daughter also received an ipod as a gift so she gave me hers and it had the same problem with the headphone plug as mine did only hours out of the packaging. The player does sound great when it works, the last guy must have had better luck than I did. I also paid a lot more than he did, $70 for the first and $65 for the second two. I will not buy another RCA MP3 player.

Best Deal - excellent sound
put in a cheap SD memory card and you got a lot of room for music512 or 1GB card. load mp3's direct to card or player. Also sound is much clearer and louder than my ipod video player. rocks loud and RCA earbuds are high quality and long lasting, I own 3 of these and no prob with the remanuf. ones, also at walmart new for 35 bucks. smooth rubber large + and - volume and arrow for skip control.
