The odd thing about this recorder is that the speaker is on the back of the unit. So, if you have a weak recording and need to have the speaker pointed right at you, you can't monitor the screen on the front. Also, to pause the playback you have to push the play button again. Unfortunately, the actual play button only has the play symbol on it, not the pause symbol as well. The pause function was something I had to look up in the user manual to find out - not very user-friendly.
