big digital box
Bought this receiver in august 2000 and have been loving it ever since. Great receiver for the dollar, decodes both dolby digital and pro logic. i hooked up all my electronics to it: playstation 2, dvd player, vcr, and 5 changer cd player and pumps out the sound on all excellently. Especially for the dvds(which is why i bought, for my home theater), it separates the 5.1 excellently, clear and crisp sound on all channels(particularly on the center channel which i know can get washed out from the other front speakers. Has alot of pre-set sound formats to enhance dvds, cds, tapes, etc. Has 2 optical outs(which im using both) and 1 coaxial(which i have yet to use). Over all, a really great digital receiver for someone who wants to get into home theater who is on a budget. My only real complaint is that you really have to crank up the volume to get loud(not deafing) audio. From 1(lowest) to 100(highest) i usually put mine up to 60 to 65 to listen to movies, somtimes even 75. Although the sound is still sharp and clean, and not distorted, if this receiver is placed in a large living room, i feel that it would not be enough to satisfy a crowd.
