Nice sounding receiver/no frills
| I picked up the Onkyo TX-8211 as a second receiver to put in my computer room. It has a sharp looking black finish which matches most of my other audio equipment and its inputs nicely acommodated my IPOD, a portable audio CD player, and the output from my computer's sound card. I hooked it up to a pair of Sony MB150H bookshelf speakers and it sounds great. My out of the box experience was a little disappointing because the supplied cheapie FM antenna made the receiver seem like a dud with respect to picking up stations. I went to Radio Shack and picked up a simple FM dipole antenna for $5. I hooked it up and was pleasantly surprised by all the stations I could pull in. With the new antenna, I was able to fill up my presets with clear sounding radio stations. It would have been nice if the TX8211 used bannana connecters but overall its a good receiver for the price. |

Great Stereo Receiver
| This is a really good receiver at a really good price. Onkyo is a well know brand that has been around for 25+ years and has always provided high quality equipment. This unit has a phono input(no you cannot use the aux for phono) that is seldom found on most receivers. If you really need to rattle the neighbors windows, the 50 Watts/channel maybe a little light, but great for nornal use. |
