Magellan SporTrak Vehicle Mounting Bracke
The bracket came with no instructions. Took a while to figure out how to fit the power cord and attach the GPS to the bracket. The way it attaches makes it difficult to dismount the GPS if you should want to use the unit without the bracket. So far it has been less hassle for me to stick the whole thing, power cord and, all in my coat pocket. The swivel clamp was so tight that I popped a screw loose in trying to turn the unit to see it better. The way the whole thing fits together will make it difficult to use on windows which slant back more that what I have in a Ford pickup and a couple of full size Ford vans. It is 9 inches long installed. If you don't have that clearance between the windshild and to top of the dash it probably won't fit well. After I figured out how to attach the GPS to the bracket and got everything positioned on the windshield it seems to work all right. The biggest problem with this installation is that the sight line and small screen makes it difficult to see fine detail in the map display.

Not well designed
Very disappointed in this bracket. One of the two mounting "ears" snapped off within a month of owning it. The design is bizarre, to say the least. I had to mount it upside down in order for it to work at all and even then it wouldn't stay affixed to the windshield unless the GPS unit itself was sitting on the dashboard or else the weight of the unit would cause the bracket to pop off of the window. It also would not keep the GPS stationary unless it touched the dashboard. It would vibrate.

Almost perfect
| The bracket is almost perfect. I say 'almost' because while it does absolutely everything it should, getting the SportTrak in and out of the bracket is a little bothersome. You have to thread the wrist cord through the little hole you see in the back of the bracket. I don't even want to think what it would be like with a vehicle powercord adapter. |
